Community Lamb Share & Workshop - 2025

from $550.00

Community Pastured Lamb Share

A hands-on, empowering and educational harvest. 🐑

We're opening up a limited number of spots for individuals and families to purchase pasture raised, grass-fed lamb shares at our 100% organic family farm. This meaningful and transformative experience will fill your freezer, expand your awareness, and impart a deep sense of connection to the animals that become your family’s food.

You’ll purchase a live lamb(s) and take part in their full journey - from pasture to plate, and beyond. Build connections to the land, reconnect with tradition, and rediscover ancestral skills.

What’s Included:

  • Purchase a live lamb born this spring and lovingly raised in the Berkshire foothills.

  • Get to know them - we encourage families to build a connection with this special animal by visiting them as they grow, learn about their care, and receive updates.

  • A full-day educational workshop where you participate in every step of the harvest, skinning, butchering, and packing of your lamb ($100 value)

  • Take home 40-50 lbs of lamb (per lamb, amount varies, $450-600 retail value)

  • A beautiful, fully tanned sheepskin that will last decades! ($250 value). Sheep skins can be tanned DIY at home (free), or at our partner non-toxic tannery in PA. This takes 1-3 months, fee including shipping is ~$65.

Workshops are one weekend day (pick 10/18 or 19) 10-4:30, in Montgomery MA. Roll up your sleeves and participate in a humane, on-farm, Kosher-style slaughter and harvest.

  • Learn traditional butchering techniques and make chops, ribs, roasts, stew meat and ground. All parts will be used, and at-home charcuterie options will be discussed.

  • Learn anatomy as we harvest all organ and specialty meats, including the incredibly nutritious blood, tongue, brain, feet, stomach, spleen, heart, lungs, intestines, liver, kidneys, fat and more.

  • Learn how to make tendons into string and glue, and how to use the hooves and hide.

Registration: Spots are limited and fill quickly. A $200 deposit reserves your lamb and your place in the workshop. The remaining balance is due the week of the harvest.

We’ve been teaching animal processing at family farms and homesteaders for over 19 years, and love welcoming kids and parents to take safely and comfortably part in this respectful, powerful learning experience.

Pricing: 1 lamb: $550-650 sliding scale, 2 lambs: $850-950 sliding scale, 3 or more - inquire

This meat is not USDA. Share participation is not a sale of meat, but of a live animal that you help process.
